EAL Course
Teaching English as an Additional Language Course
Whilst a new EAL training module is being incorporated into Teaching Assistants’ induction training (source: Literacy Trust), practising teachers have approached Cactus in need of a short course to introduce the principles of teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL), based on a teaching methodology akin to the aims of TESOL, teaching English to speakers of other languages. Specifically, teachers need a fairly short course which is able to fit easily around their working week, without needing to encroach on their summer holidays, as is the case with, say a 4-week intensive TEFL course. As a result of such requests, Cactus has worked with Malvern House school, a leading English language school in London, to develop a new part-time course format, the IC TESOL course which gives practising teachers enough course content (40 hours) to make the course worthwhile, and to include a small amount of teaching practice, with genuine non-native speakers of English. The IC TESOL is the Introductory Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and runs on two weekday evenings per week and one two Saturdays over a 4-week duration. The course runs every month in London, and to find out more about this course which is suitable for teachers of EAL, click here: IC TESOL Course http://www.cactustefl.com/tefl/course.php?course_id=2479 You can also phone the team to find out more on 0845 130 4775.
