The Great Escape
Looking to teach English Abroad?
Been working in the state school system for some time? Tired of the daily grind and looking at TEFL teaching as a route to a change? Maybe as a key to travelling, seeing the world, having new experiences?
State school teachers of any subject make simply brilliant teachers of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). The world is your oyster and the need for teachers in some countries is so big you will feel you can truly give something back along with satisfying all your own desires for change and challenge.
In some countries, there is no absolute need for qualifications above and beyond your degree and PGCE, particularly if you are considering teaching children of any age. We do recommend, however, that you take at least a weekend TEFL course or a weekend & online combined TEFL course. If you take a 100 hour combined course you can even get guaranteed placement for the first few months of your travels.
Even better, if you can spare the time and find the money, go for a proper 4 week certificate course which is externally moderated - this, along with your PGCE and teaching experience is the recipe for success and a wider choice of jobs abroad.
